La razón (The Reason, 2007/2010) – first feature film
中 : script (in colaboration with Andrés Onna), image and sound post-production (with the colaboration of Martín Ramírez), music (as Victorio Lenz), texts, direction and final cut.

70 minutos – format 1.78:1 / (anamorphic) / color. Release date: October 6, 2010, at Gaumont cinema (Buenos Aires), during the Festival de Cine Inusual. 

Note I: The last secuence ncludes an unreleased song composed and performed by Moby, who generously granted the rights to Charif. 

Note II: In spite of the film get the Special Prize to the Technical Realization, and the Prize to the Best Cinematographer in the Festival de Cine Inusual de Buenos Aires, Argentina (2010), and in spite to be special invited to the International Film Festival of Mar del Plata (2011), after a good reception the film was retired by Charif himself because, on his view, it is “just a study, not really a good feature film, and with too much flaws which embarass me”. Anyway, by circumstances which will be explained in due course, The Reason will be available on-line in a kind of aniversary edition on October 2020.

Note: Experimental adult film made with a new animation technique (tested for a few seconds on Natural Baroque -#16-). This technique consists in a series of micro-collages, converted in transparent and adhered over the filmstrip. The result is an abstract film, maintaining the explicit or pornographic side in the audio, thus spectators can complete the images with their minds.

Note: This film was made just in one day and edited in camera (41 scenes alternating different animation techniques with the actor’s performance). The original idea was conceived on 1987 to be performed by Luca Prodan (who died in the same year). The role was finally performed by Tom Lupo.

Cabeza de Fierro (Iron Head, circa 1972)

At the age of five, his parents present him with a toy projector Cine Graf, and he paints an extensive strip of film paper to adapt a book called Cabeza de fierro (Iron Head).
